Lesson 04CV Writing

This lesson is about how to write a good CV that helps you get a job. A CV is a document that shows your education, skills, work experience, and achievements. Employers look at your CV to decide if they want to call you for an interview, so it must make a good first impression.

You learned how to format the CV clearly, use bullet points, and choose a simple font. The CV should include important parts like your personal info, summary, work history, education, skills, and awards. You should list recent experiences first and write clearly what you did in each job using action words.

It's important to tailor your CV for each job by focusing on the skills and experience that match the job. Doing research on the company helps you use the right keywords and increases the chance of your CV passing automatic systems. You also learned common mistakes to avoid, like spelling errors, messy layout, or adding too much old or useless info. At the end of the lesson, you practiced making your own CV and got feedback from others. A good CV can help you stand out and get more job opportunities if you do it right.

What i learnt

• What a CV is and why it's important for job applications
• How to structure a CV clearly and neatly
• The key sections to include in a CV (personal info, experience, education, skills, achievements)
• How to tailor a CV to match different job roles
• The value of researching the company before writing the CV
• How to avoid common CV mistakes like spelling errors or bad formatting
• How to use action verbs and show achievements in job descriptions
• That a well-made CV can help get more interview calls

What was interesting

What was interesting to me in this lesson was how small changes in a CV can make a big difference. I didn't know that tailoring the CV for each job could actually increase your chances. Also, the part about using the right keywords to pass those computer systems (ATS) was new and kind of cool to me. I also liked learning how formatting and clear layout helps get attention. Before this, I thought CV is just a boring paper, but now I see it's more like a marketing tool for yourself. That part really changed how I see job applications.
